what the hell is "challenging yourself" and why would i ever do that

 vaguely embarrassed by present tense omniscient 3rd person being my default pov to write in.. i think it's usually because what i like writing is enhanced by the intimacy and immediacy of present tense and im too lazy to develop suspense in past tense

i was going to comment on this yesterday saying present omniscient 3rd is pretty respectable as far as pov goes, and i was going to hold out until i had more to say on that but like. yeah, idk that there's anything inherently elevated about past tense over present and as long as the pov you choose achieves your goals (intimacy/immediacy as u say) then it should be sufficient. obv u don't have to take this utilitarian response as the end all be all but ummmm what was it you said in the other post about setting urself up for higher standards?

i think its because i feel like im limiting myself by always defaulting to that.. especially because lots of things i want to write but im scared of could use the scope of past tense. but you right you right im just inventing excuses not to write now
